File and worksheet limits

Two XLSX or UTF-8/UTF-16 CSV files, each up to 10 MB. One sheet per file, up to 50,000 data rows and 100 columns per sheet; 1,000,000 cells combined. Headers must be in row 1, non-empty and unique. Fully empty rows are ignored. Unsupported or malformed files are rejected.

IDs, types, dates and formulas

IDs match by trimmed displayed text. Leading zeros are retained: 001 and 1 are different IDs. Columns match by their exact header names, regardless of column order. Fields compare by type and value: number 1 and text “1” are different. Blank cells and empty strings are equivalent. CSV fields stay as text; dates are not guessed. XLSX dates use normalized date values; formulas use cached saved results only and are never recalculated. Save cached formula results first. Unsupported Excel errors are rejected.

What isn't included?

No macros, formula recalculation, formatting or chart comparison, automatic merging, or scheduled jobs. Added/removed columns are flagged. Formula text changes that produce the same cached value are outside this comparison. Review important changes against the original files before acting.
